1 Day | Class-based

Working in complex trauma environments can be both deeply rewarding and profoundly challenging. This one-day program equips practitioners with the awareness, tools, and strategies needed to not only sustain themselves in this work, but to truly thrive. Through a blend of reflection, science-backed practices, and practical application, participants will learn how to recognise the signs of impact, build personal and professional resilience, and create sustainable plans for ongoing wellbeing.

This program is designed for professionals working in high-impact environments where complex trauma is prevalent, including:

  • Mental health practitioners
  • Social workers and case managers
  • First responders and emergency service personnel
  • Medical and allied health professionals
  • Frontline staff in community and human services
  • Educators and leaders in trauma-informed settings

Whether you’re new to the field or have years of experience, this program will strengthen your capacity to protect your wellbeing, sustain your purpose, and continue making a difference in the lives of those you serve.

By the end of this Thriving in Complex Trauma Environments Course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the potential impacts of complex trauma, including vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and moral injury.
  • Identify personal triggers and early signs of stress across cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and physical domains.
  • Apply evidence-based tools such as grounding, controlled breathing, mindfulness, and heart-brain coherence to reset in the moment.
  • Implement strategies to reduce vulnerability, maintain boundaries, and sustain a healthy baseline.
  • Foster psychological safety within teams to support open communication and mutual resilience.
  • Develop a personalised plan to prepare, respond, and reset in challenging situations, while building sustainable habits for long-term wellbeing.
